Today we traveled from Las Vegas to Tokyo via Air Canada on a Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner with a transfer in Vancouver. Sometimes going through a connecting city is cheaper than flying non-stop. If you have the ability to fly as a non-revenue passenger (on a buddy pass or the like), then your options are almost unlimited. Once we landed in Tokyo, the difference was seen immediately. We stayed at the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay and all I can say is, WOW! The moment we arrived, we were greeted by the staff and treated as if we were big shot CEO’s. Everyone was extremely courteous and pilot, showing the upmost respect. The room we stayed in was spacious and overlooked Tokyo Bay and the center of the city. Although the bed was a bit on the firm side, everything else was a traveler’s dream. The bathroom was huge and is equipped with a deep soak tub, rain shower and automatic toilet. If you had to be stuck in a room, this was the one to be in.
